Concrete gravel boards can be used to provide either a whole panel or, more typically, the bottom part of a panel with wood making up the rest of the panel. Installing a concrete gravel board at the bottom of a wooden panel keeps the wood further from the ground which minimises rot and decay caused by moisture damage and a vermin deterrent.
Whilst the inclusion of a gravel board does alter the visual aspect of a fence if you are going go for a wooden fence panel we would recommend including a gravel board. If you have chosen a
dip-treated wooden panel then a gravel board is an absolute must have to protect the panel from ground moisture which will cause the panel to rot. Whilst not as critical for pressure-treated panels, the inclusion of them would be a prudent inclusion to maximise it's effective working life.
