Post and rail fencing in Nottingham will typically be found surrounding a large area such as a field or
school sports grounds where another fence would simply be too costly to cover a large area as long as there are no security issues as a post and rail fence will provide little deterrent - unless wire is used or incorporates into the fence and it becomes an electric fence.
Sometimes a
post and rail fence is simply a way of denoting a boarder for ownership purposes and implies that this land is owned by someone rather than a public right of way.
It is designed to be relatively inexpensive per linear meter with the most effort focused on fitting the posts securely into the ground. Again due to the length of coverage they are not designed for aesthetics or regular maintenance so all the wood will be treated and different woods to standard garden fencing will be used too.
Before we started installing the post & rail fencing
Chicken wire added to the bottom of the post & rail fencing to prevent small animals from entering the area
We even included a small wooden gate
As with all fencing the importance of post footings is crucial for post and rail fencing but at Nottingham Fencing we pride ourselves on the quality of our post work so when we install a fence it's built to last.
As mentioned, the components of post and rail fencing are quite simply the fence post and the
fence rails. Depending on the shapes and size of the posts it can also impact how the rails are joined onto the posts. Regardless of the joints and the number of rails connecting to each post we provide the best connecting joint possible.
As with other types of fencing - it is possible for us to make alterations that suit your needs. Aspects such as the size and shape of the fencing post can vary, as can the space between them, which will also be affected by what rail, or wire of fencing you wish to have connecting them.
The number and placement of wooden rails running from one post to another is something which can be varied to ensure that the livestock on the other side cannot simply jump through the gap.
Likewise the spacing of the wire or a wide mesh between posts will suffice as a deterrent for livestock to wander further afield.
